Does anyone know at all if the Forced subtitles appear only in the black bar at the bottom?

Also, when the database says 'FORCED on the English soundtrack', does that mean they do not appear with the French audio track? so If I was able to find out where I could buy this, I could re-encode the DVD to remove the subtitles?

FORCED on the English track means that they are optional on the French track so yes, you should be able to re-encode.

Use DVD Decrypter for making a copy of such disc. Dump the image in ISO mode.
Just make sure you checked everything in Settings->ISO Read Mode.
By default PUOs aren't patched/removed so you still gonna have forced subs and unskippable intros/ads if there are such on the disc.

haha cheers mate, I just ordered a Used copy for 1 euro (post was 9 euro to NZ). I think I got the right one, if not, oh well worth a try;
