Tin Man (TV) (2007) ADDED

Post by Paul_Rudoff »

Two additions (and a note) related to Tin Man (TV) (2007)

(1) For the Blu-ray page: http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/f ... ?fid=43256

The Mill Creek SINGLE-DISC Blu-ray is not listed. I don't own it, but the details can be found here:
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Tin-Man- ... 64/#Review

(2) For both the Mill Creek Blu-ray & DVD (below), the Gag Reel is EDITED by 24 seconds. It might also be edited on the RHI Blu-ray, but it's definitely NOT edited on the RHI DVD. The RHI DVD's "Blooper Reel" (aka "Wizard Tricks - Hilarious Gag Reel") runs for 9:45. On both Mill Creek releases (maybe also the RHI Blu-ray), the runtime is 9:21.

I have the RHI and Mill Creek DVDs, and just loading up the feature on both discs I can instantly see where the difference lies. Right at the very start of the 9:45 reel, the director hums a song, followed by some random quick shots, and then the title "The Lighter Side of the O.Z. - on set with Nick Willing & the Tin Man crew". (Yes, the actual on-screen title isn't even "Wizard Tricks"!) Right *AFTER* the title is where the 9:21 reel starts, and that accounts for the time difference. I can rip both videos and upload the clips if you want to see the difference for yourself. Though, here is a screenshot of the title from the 9:45 reel (missing from the 9:21 reel):

(3) You have the RHI DVD, but you're missing the Mill Creek DVD.

Re: Tin Man (TV) (2007)

Just want to give an update to the information I submitted last week...

I now own 3 of the 4 US releases for this film: the RHI DVD, the Mill Creek DVD, and the RHI Blu-ray (two-disc set):
https://www.spookcentral.tk/temp/3DVDCo ... lIOwn1.jpg
https://www.spookcentral.tk/temp/3DVDCo ... lIOwn2.jpg
https://www.spookcentral.tk/temp/3DVDCo ... ntents.jpg

I'm not buying the Mill Creek Blu-ray, as the Blu-ray.com review tells me that it is the same as their DVD, but with EVERYTHING crammed onto ONE DISC! The TLDR version is that for Region 1/A, between all of the DVDs and Blu-rays from both RHI and Mill Creek, there is no 100% perfect item. Each release is either missing something, has the edited gag reel, has three of the featurettes in 4:3 letterbox, or has everything crammed onto one disc.

To elaborate... I didn't notice this at first, but the "Making Of", "On Set with Director", and "Trailer" are presented in 4:3 Letterbox on the RHI DVD and Blu-ray, but are 16:9 anamorphic widescreen on the Mill Creek DVD and Blu-ray (according to the review). I think MC just took the 4:3 video and cropped off the blackness, which is fine by me.

Do note that all extras are in SD on the RHI Blu-ray.

Sadly, now that I own the RHI Blu, I can personally confirm that it has same 9:21 edited "Wizard Tricks" (aka "Lighter Side of the O.Z.") gag reel as Mill Creek's DVD and Blu-ray (according to the review). For R1, only the RHI DVD has the full 9:45 gag reel, but that DVD is missing a few of the other extras (as noted on the DVD comparison page here).

To save myself from having to keep multiple copies of this movie, I ended up just ripping the best version of each extra and authoring my own supplemental DVD that I put in the case with the RHI Blu-ray :-)

PS: I uploaded my DVD Rips, so if you;d like to see the complete and edited "gag reel", here you go:

* Edited (314 MB): https://archive.org/download/tin-man-ex ... TED%29.mkv

Is there any additional info I need to give to help you be able to add the releases I submitted originally on Sept. 22nd?

Could you provide the episode runtimes for the RHI Blu-ray release?

No problem. For the RHI Blu-ray:

DISC 1
* Part 1 (91:29)
* Part 2 (87:39)

DISC 2
* Part 3 (88:28)

All of the extras have runtimes that match the Mill Creek DVD.

I know I gave a lot of info, so it may have been a little confusing.

In adding the info, there is now an error on the Blu-ray page:
http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/f ... ?fid=43256

The RHI Blu-ray also has the EDITED gag reel. The only release that has it unedited is the RHI DVD. Trust me, I *WISH* The RHI Blu-ray had it unedited, as that would have made it the *perfect* release :-(
