Director name is currently:

Kim Jee-woon

This is arguably not incorrect, and is written this way on IMDb and Wikipedia. However, my understanding is that "Kim" is the family name, and on the DVD and Blu-ray pages for this movie, as well as every other entry I could find that was directed by him, it is written the other way round:

Jee-woon Kim

For consistency, either this page should be changed, or the director credit on all the other pages should be changed.

That means that the name is consistent across the formats for this movie, but is different to all the other entries for movies directed by him (there appear to be 22 entries in total across the formats). Is this intentional?

A search by director name appears not to mind about the order of the names, so it still brings up all the entries, despite the variation in order.

It's an inconsistency due to IMDB for years listing director's names in the English form of given name/last name. But in more recent years South Korea has been insisting that Korean names when listing in non-Korean forms should adhere to last name/given name form, so places like IMDB have been slowly changing the order. Also due to non-standardization of Korean to English, it's causing issues for our database as well. Director 유현목 was previously spelled "Hyun Mok Yoo" on IMDB, but now is spelled "Yu Hyun-mok", though Korean Film Archive spells his name as "Yoo Hyeon-mok".

Since searching for "Kim Jee-woon" or "Jee-woon Kim" will bring up the same results, we will keep it as it is for now, but it will be a long task to try and update all our entries with Korean filmmaker names.

Wow! Thanks for that James. That creates a horrendous mess, not just on this website but all across the internet. And yes, trying to fix it for all Korean directors would be a huge task, and it would be almost impossible to be completely thorough in trying update everything. I agree it's probably best to leave things as they are for now.
