OVERALL: Draw
The US R1, German R2, Scandinavian R2, UK R2 "The Legacy Collection" sets sets include an exclusive featurette by "Van Helsing" director Stephen Sommers.
The US "The Complete Legacy Collection" includes additional films and more extras than the standard Legacy collections, but is missing the "Stephen Sommers" featurette.
General notes about the transfer:
Comparing "Legacy/re-release” to the previous, "older releases", the image has now been framed correctly, and it´s generally looking better than it previously did (less film artifacts and grain, and better contrast levels).
E.g. there is a sequence, where the monster is coming down the stairs to the laboratory (shortly after his “Bride” comes to life) towards Dr. Pretorius and Dr. Frankenstein. In the "older release", Karloff’s face, from the eyes up, are not visible until he begins descending the stairs. When comparing this sequence to the “Legacy/re-release”, his entire face stays in the frame during the shot. There was other instances like this, and these should now been corrected. Further more, the certificate (from the beginning) has been restored. -
