* R2 UK/German box set has two versions of the series in the OAR of 4:3: The original 78 episodes with German audio (the series was first dubbed to German and Polish) and the shortened UK (dubbed a few years later) versions. The releases are fully English friendly.

* If you want significantly improved and remastered transfer - BUT cropped/framed to 1.78:1 - choose R0 Scandinavian release from 2013 (not English friendly).

General notes:
The puppet animation series (often referred as "The Fuzzy Felt Moomins") made in 1978-1982 at the Polish Se-Ma-For studios. Original Polish, German and Austrian co-production (with the script approval by the Finnish author Tove Jansson) consisted of 78-parts of ~9-minute episodes.

In the UK the original ~9-minute episodes were cut into a 100 episodes of ~5 minutes duration each.

In 2010 the series was remastered and color corrected in 1.78:1 aspect ratio by "WFDiF" from Poland (Finnish, Polish and Austrian co-production).

Two feature films were also edited from the restored prints:
* "Moomin and Midsummer Madness AKA Muumi ja vaarallinen juhannus (2008)"
* "Moomins and the Comet Chase AKA Muumi ja punainen pyrstötähti (2010)".

CUTS:

• R0 Finland- Oy Filmkompaniet Alpha Ab - No cuts. 2010 restoration, includes newly recorded title song in Finnish by "PMMP". Finnish end (additional 0:20) and opening credits, with Finnish episode names.
• R0 Scandinavia- FS-Film Oy - No cuts. OAR, but from the older prints (not remastered, but still improved from the UK/German prints).
• R0 Scandinavia- Nordisk Film - No cuts. 2010 restoration, includes newly recorded title song in Finnish, Swedish or English by "PMMP".
  * If you choose Finnish menu/audio, Finnish opening credits/episode titles are included (with the series title: "Muumien maailma"). The title song is also in Finnish.
  * If you choose Swedish menu/audio, English opening credits/episode titles are included (with the series title: "Moomins"). The title song is in Swedish.
  * If you choose Danish or Norwegian menu/audio, English opening credits/episode titles are included (with the series title: "Moomins"). The title song is in English.
• R2 Germany- Trickkiste - * German version (not remastered): No cuts. German on-screen episode titles are included (with opening and end credits). Narrated by German actor Hans Clarin, music by Andrzej Rokicki and Eugen Illin.
  * UK version by "FilmFair" (not remastered): Shortened from the original ~9-minute episodes. No on-screen episode titles (opening and end credits are included). Narrated by British actor Richard Murdoch, music by Graeme Miller and Steve Shill.
• R2 United Kingdom- Trickkiste - * German version (not remastered): No cuts. German on-screen episode titles are included (with opening and end credits). Narrated by German actor Hans Clarin, music by Andrzej Rokicki and Eugen Illin.
