The Mandarin and English export have been reconstructed using the Hong Kong version as the base, resulting in some inconsistences with the original Mandarin and export versions including shots that ran longer in the Hong Kong version that were originally shortened in the other versions but remain here.

The US release has three versions of the film with some differing exclusive extras.
GENERAL NOTES:
The film exists in three primary versions:
- the Hong Kong version (~97 minutes) with the downbeat ending. A Japanese variant remained in Cantonese and added closing Cantonese narration;
- the Mandarin version (~98 minutes) dubbed in Mandarin only a the Hong Kong cut was dubbed in both Cantonese and Mandarin before the changes to the ending - with the reshot ending and courtroom coda. This version played in Mainland China, Taiwan, Singapore, and other Asian territories;
- the English export version (~92 minutes) based on the Chinese cut but featuring additional trims as well as a front title sequence on black rather than after the teaser as in the other versions.
