The theatrical cut presumably comes from Universal's master while the extended version is from the German composite with SD inserts.
*The initial pressing of the combo had a flanging effect on the 2.0 track on both discs (just the theatrical cut on the Blu-ray). This was rectified on a repressing on the DVD side but a mixup lead to the faulty Blu-ray inadvertently being repressed. A replacement of the replacement has been announced (special thanks to Davy_Lee for updates). -

OVERALL: Draw
The US Universal and UK editions have the US cut with lossless stereo audio, the US MVD edition and the German 4-disc edition has both the International and US cuts with extensive extras (do note that the German has more extras but the US has some exclusive ones), although the soundtracks are lossy Dolby Digital only.
This has also been released in:
- Germany by '84 Entertainment (3-disc)
Additional Note:
Rewind user Luke Oldfield has told us the following with regards to the German releases: They seem to use a few scenes from both US cut AND international versions. One huge one I noticed was when Leon asks the doctor if they caught the people that set his brother on fire (37:31) the doctors responds with (US CUT)"Yes Mr. Gaultier, I believe the police have them in custody" and then say's (International CUT)"The guys who set him on fire might have been rival drug dealers. They might have been customers, that he sold some bad stuff to. They might have been kids playing a sick prank. We may never know. He was too delirious to tell the police much of anything" This makes no sense at all after telling him they had them in custody, then saying we may never know who did it. Also the Blu-ray is good quality on the scenes from the US Cut, although the scenes from the International version are not, and stand out a mile when it switches between the two.
If anyone can shed some light on the matter, please let us know. -
