OVERALL: R1
R1 Classic Media release for original Japanese audio with English subtitles, extras, and both versions of the film (although the US Version is cropped to 1.78:1).
Also note that the Japanese and German (R0, Marketing-Film) releases have some extras but are not English friendly.
The US Simitar release has the US Version in its OAR of 2.35:1, but it's non-anamorphic.
To see an image comparison between the R4 Madman and R1 Classic Media releases, follow this link.
Four versions of this film exist:
(1.) The original Japanese version (89 minutes NTSC = 85 minutes PAL).
(2.) The US version Which has one additional action sequence: "The Frontier Missile sequence" (The scene in which the U.S. military attempt to stop Godzilla by using Frontier Missiles). This is missing from the Japanese print. This footage slightly alters the arrangement of events of the American and European versions (88 minutes NTSC = 85 minutes PAL).
(3.) European version which is unknown as to how it differs (~90 minutes NTSC = 86 minutes PAL).
(4.) The Japanese 1980 cutdown version theatrical rerelease.
This film is also known as:
- Godzilla Fights the Giant Moth
- Godzilla vs. the Giant Moth -
CUTS:
- R0 America- Simitar Entertainment - Yes - US Version.
- R0 Germany- Marketing Film - No cuts

- R4 Australia- Madman Entertainment - No cuts - Includes the original Japanese version and the altered U.S version
